Guide

Everything you can do on Lofee, whether you are going to events or running them.

The basics

Lofee is an events and ticketing platform. You can discover events, buy tickets, and get in the door with a QR code. Organizers use the same site to create events, sell tickets, manage the door, and get paid.

Lofee hosts events of every kind. It shares one platform with Indie, our site dedicated to independent music, and one account works on both. Some music events you see here are also listed on Indie.

Accounts and profiles

Sign up with an email address and password, or with a Google or Apple account, then pick an account type: fan, volunteer, artist, business, promoter, or venue. Fans and volunteers attend and help out; artist, business, promoter, and venue accounts can also create events.

Every account gets a public profile page with its own web address that you can share. You can edit your screen name and location from the Profile page at any time, and upload a profile picture there too: after choosing an image you can drag, pinch, or zoom to crop it exactly how you want before saving.

Finding events

The home page lists published upcoming events. The search box in the header finds events and people; people results link to public profiles, where you can also see the events an artist, venue, business, or promoter is linked to. On phones and small screens the header links live behind the menu button in the top right corner. Every event has its own page with the date, location, description, and ticket prices, and organizers can give it a custom short link.

Buying tickets

Buy from the event page. You can check out signed in or as a guest with just your name and email. Payment is handled securely by Stripe; Lofee never sees your card number.

Depending on the event you will see a single ticket price, a pay-what-you-can price with a $1.00 minimum, or ticket tiers (such as General Admission and VIP) whose prices can change over time through scheduled sales like presales. Any fees and taxes are itemized at checkout before you pay, and you can buy up to 10 tickets of a kind per order.

Some events ask a few questions at checkout, such as meal choices or a waiver acknowledgement. You answer once per ticket, so buying for friends means answering for each attendee. Your answers are shared with the event organizer and their event staff, and you can review them anytime on each ticket.

Your tickets

Tickets are emailed to you after purchase with each ticket's QR code right in the email, along with the venue, city, and start time in the event's local time zone. If you were signed in, tickets also appear under My tickets. Each ticket has a unique QR code that staff scan at the door. For multi-day events the same ticket admits you once per day.

Refunds are issued by the event organizer. If one is issued, your money comes back through Stripe to your original payment method and the ticket is marked refunded.

Creating an event

With an artist, business, promoter, or venue account, create events from the Events page. Set the name, description, dates, venue, city, and an image, and choose a custom web address if you like. Every event has a time zone (suggested from your state or province, adjustable): the start and end times you enter are in that time zone, and attendees see event times in it everywhere, including tickets and emails. Event images use the 11x17 poster shape (the standard print poster size), so you can reuse your poster or flyer artwork directly; after choosing an image you can drag and zoom to crop it. Save as a draft while you work; publishing makes the event public. You can link other profiles (say, the artists on the bill and the venue) so the event shows on their public pages too.

Pricing is either simple (one price or pay-what-you-can, with one capacity) or custom: ticket tiers, each with its own capacity and one or more scheduled sales windows that set the price over time. Every ticket price has a $1.00 minimum. You can add your own named fees (for example a promoter fee), fixed or percentage-based, and choose whether platform and payment-processing fees are absorbed by you or passed to the buyer. Applicable sales tax is calculated automatically from the event location.

You can also add up to 3 checkout questions (short or long text, a dropdown, checkboxes, or a required waiver-style checkbox). Buyers answer each question once per ticket, so you get an answer for every attendee. Answers appear on the guest list (with a count summary for choice questions), in the scanner after a successful check-in, and in the CSV export. You can edit questions anytime, but answers are only collected from purchases made after the change. Never ask for passwords, payment card numbers, or government IDs. Answers are kept for event operations and deleted automatically 90 days after the event ends, so export what you need for your records before then.

Getting paid

Ticket revenue is paid out through Stripe. Connect a Stripe account from the Dashboard (a one-time setup), and after your event ends the proceeds, minus anything you chose to absorb, are transferred automatically. A payout report with a full breakdown of sales, fees, and taxes per tier is saved with the event for your records. Lofee keeps only a small flat platform fee per ticket.

Every event has an Earnings screen (linked from Your events) that shows a running breakdown from the moment you create it: gross ticket sales, custom fees, tax collected for you, refunds, the platform and payment-processing fees, and an estimated net payout. Before any sales it explains how fees and taxes will apply to your event. While sales run, the totals update as orders come in and are estimates until your payout; the final payout report then replaces them and is the authoritative record.

The line "Tax collected for you" is sales tax charged to buyers on your tickets and custom fees. It is paid out to you, and you are responsible for remitting it. Tax on the platform fee is retained and remitted by the platform, not you.

Running your event

The guest list on your event shows every ticket, who bought it, and check-in status, and you can check people in from it directly or issue refunds. For the door, the built-in QR scanner runs in the browser on any phone, and volunteers you add to the event can scan tickets at the door too.
